About Coffeehouse 

Nestled in the lower section of Place Maillardville is a bright and spacious room that is home to CISS' Java with Friends Coffee House.  On Thursdays between 12:15 and 1:30pm, Place Maillardville is transformed into an energetic, yet cozy coffeehouse where all is welcome. Anyone can drop in to have their, lunch, enjoy an afternoon of live music and entertainment, dance with friends, have fresh coffee, and a chance to even win a door prize.

In 1997, the Society, in partnership with Parks and Recreation had a desire to create “an event in the Coquitlam area in which members of the community and CISS could actively take part in and enjoy an afternoon of music and socialization.”  This passion became reality with the birth of Java with Friends Coffee House. Eventually, CISS took full charge of the project and is now independently running this weekly event.

Java with Friends not only provides consumers with a place where they can enjoy great music and friends, it also has provided one consumer with a paid position managing the Coffee House's concession booth.
