How Inlet Started
Inlet was the first program developed by CISS. It’s been around since 1990 and has since become the “evolving program”. As it was first developed to help deinstitutionalize people from Woodlands it has remained more focused on the aging individual. But as many of them have retired, Inlet has seen many changes over the years. Currently, there are individuals as young as 30 enjoying the day program at Inlet.
Day Programs
Our day programs have individualized programming to best suit the needs of the individual. It varies from special interests and talents to educational and vocational pursuits. Many of the individuals at Inlet volunteer. It helps them become involved in the community while interacting with new people.
Individuals at Inlet volunteer for:
· Share Society Thrift Store
· Local Churches
· Local businesses doing recycling
The activities run by Inlet include:
· Music Therapy
· A Community Garden which contributes it’s vegetables to the Kyle Kitchen Seniors
Lunch Program
Success Stories:

A Story of New Beginnings -by Mary Joy
Derek came to CISS, Inlet Enterprises in 2003. Derek has participated in a few volunteer jobs, as well as recreation and leisure activities. Derek enjoys working at the community Garden with his peers and staff. Derek worked at the seniors soup and sandwich program at Kyle Kitchen since June 2005, he then left the program in February 2009 to pursue paid employment. He is now working at East Side Mario’s, in a paid position as of April 2009, so all the time Derek spent at the Kyle Kitchen program paid off. Good job Derek, on a successful year of paid employment.
